271 | Volle Kraft voraus… :-)

Guten Appetit! :-)

Babylon United…

Die Ankunft – Bericht einer unserer Studentinnen

Hey guys! I am Elena from Perm, Russia. I am a student in CHN, Leeuwarden, Netherlands. I follow the Master programme in International Leisure and Tourism Studies.

Classes haven’t started yet but I already feel myself as a part of the CHN community. You want to know why?

I will tell you. I arrived 22 august to Ljouwert (Frisian name for Leeuwarden), very soon found my school ( taxi is arranged by CHN but I decided to go by car) cause every citizen knows where it is and went immediately to the international office there. They provided me with all necessary info.

The Housing Office, situated in the school building, arranged my apartment and I was given the contract and keys. I got a very nice room in a real student area. It consists of 3 houses with all students inside and besides our rooms we have a big kitchen, laundry, living room with a pool table, big tv and a bar where we can organise great parties! I met a house keeper and my host who are supposed to help me with anything I need. I bought a nice pink bike from a house keeper.

Next day the introduction week started. We, international students, were divided into groups and introduced to our buddies.
They showed us the school building and made a tour around city center. The lunch and dinner at school for us were for free so we could eat as much as we want! The second day we had a boat trip around friesland (a province of Netherlands, Leeuwarden is the capial). It was very relaxing with a dinner on a boat.

And at the evening we all went to the party in the biggest club in Ljouwert – Noa, where the party was organised by CHN specially for us! The third day I will remember for ages. We had a team building activity. We were jumping with poles (in Dutch – fierljeppen – traditional Frisian sport) into the sand and even over the water! All in mud, water, sand and bruises all over we were absolutely happy! We shoot wit arrows, climbed on the walls, fall in the water with all the clothes and swam there, played team games. It was awesome! And it was only a welcome weekend… What is waiting for me later? Fun, parties, new friends or lectures, seminars and searching for a job…

Welcome, Elena – and all other starters in our distinguished master programmes!
