336 | CHN students of the minor Humanitarian Assistance Management took the initiative for a charity concert in in the Nature Museum, Leeuwarden.

This concert was provided by our CHN student’s orchestra and choir. Conductor Harm Witteveen, a former docent at CHN University, and the CHN student orchestra, the CHN vocalists and a group of children from the primary school Prins Constantijn had an excellent performance in the very nice atrium of the Nature Museum, Leeuwarden.

This picture was taken some minutes before the guests came in.

The concert was various (classic) music program played by the CHN student’s orchestra and CHN choir.

Furthermore a group of children from primary school Prins Constantijn played the Toy Symphony by Edmund Angerer.

The impressive presentation of the chorals and recitatives of the Cantate no. 140 »Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme« was a very touching moment to me. I’d played one of these as a young organist solo many times and also the whole cantate once with my school orchestra (around 1970).

The total amount of money raised will be spended on the CHN project: a playground project of activity center in Port Alfred, South Africa. This multiple years project was set up to give children of the township NeMaTo (Nelson Mandela Township) the opportunity to play in a safe environment.

Seven students of the CHN of the minor Humanitarian Hospitality Management raised as much money as possible. The goal is to realize the playground and build a wall and fens for the safety.

The result of the fund raising: 6.000 euro!

Harm, all the volunteers and sponsors: thank you very, very much!
